The real first step:
So, you’re ready to make a move and you don’t know where to start? The first step in the homebuying or home selling process is to hire a realtor – and only one.
You cannot have multiple agents searching for your next property.
When you are ready to purchase a new home, it’s important that you remain exclusive to one realtor (or team) during the transaction.
How to find the right agent for you:
It doesn’t hurt to interview several agents before you jump into the market. I strongly recommend scheduling time to speak with several to see who you connect with and who really listens to your vision. After all, we are talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars here! Do the research and don’t be afraid to be picky. It’s going to be a long term relationship.
Ultimately, you should feel the trust with your agent right out of the gate and they should be able to tell you what they are going to do for YOU.
Some realtors work under a team, where multiple agents are working together. (i.e., The Maty Mauk Team)
Seal the deal:
Once you’ve made the decision, sign an agency contract with them. That says you’re serious, loyal and ready to hit the ground running on your new purchase. Your realtor is going to provide you, without delay, their full service. They’ll devote their time and resources to finding your new home.
Congratulations! You hired a realtor!
Why the investment of your time is priceless:
Personally, that first consultation is essential. It give me what I need to be my best for YOU throughout the process. Being clear about who you are and what the move means to you is what motivates me to exceed your expectations. It’s that opportunity we have with each other to bring our guards down, and open up a line of communication. It’s where I tell you that I’m available to you 24/7 and that no ask is too big, no question is silly, and you’re never bothering me.
After all, this is my livelihood, and I pride myself on being available and trustworthy to my clients.
